Fill the void

Fill The Void was a project created in the midst of pandemic lockdowns. The project evolved during a period of unprecedented isolation and uncertainty for our community. Fill the Void invited community participants from the Gippsland region to come together to help create a multi-media performance piece. Michael Shirrefs was commissioned to compose original music for the production and Kate Russell created a visual backdrop for the work. Costume designer Mayumi McPhee designed and created costumes for the cast, who ranged in age from 6 to 60. The workshop process was hindered by lockdowns, cancellations and postponements, which is why the success of getting the work in front of an audience in the Meeniyan Hall was so miraculous and satisfying for all involved.
